Tips to Prevent Tooth Decay in Children

 Prevent Tooth Decay in ChildrenOne of the most unpleasant situations for many children, is when it comes to visiting the dentist. Screaming, kicking, crying, and all sorts of tricks are as valid to prevent unwanted visit.

Along with the anger of the child is the anger of parents who also live a stressful and uncomfortable trying to convince their children that should attend the meeting with the dentist.

One way to avoid these situations, or at least make it a little more sporadic, precaution and prevention. Some care and attention can help tremendously to prevent tooth decay of children, most common reasons for visits by children to the dentist, helping us to avoid having to repeat many times this unpleasant moment, but above all, helping our children dental health.

In this post, I offer some tips for preventing cavities in children:

* Made proper brushing at least twice a day, at least three minutes at a time, with a fluoride toothpaste and a brush of appropriate size. This will maintain proper cleaning of the child’s mouth
* A balanced diet, limiting excess sweets like candy and drinks containing sugar between meals and especially before bedtime, will reduce the amount of sugar consumed by children, reason has become the main cause of this problem
* Cleaning the teeth with floss or an interdental cleaner, because, generally, the bacteria that cause cavities are located between the teeth where toothbrush bristles can not reach

Therefore, parents should consider these recommendations and noted that the best way to educate their young children is by example.

However, studies indicate that gingivitis (the first stage of periodontal disease) is nearly universal in children and adolescents. Advanced forms of periodontal disease are rarer in children than in adults, but can occur.

To ensure healthy teeth as an adult, you must establish good oral habits as a child. Parents can encourage good oral health habits at home. For example, parents may reward children with visits from the tooth fairy or the Tooth Fairy not only when they drop a tooth, but when the child passes the dental examination.

Types of periodontal diseases in children
Chronic gingivitis is common in children. It usually causes the gums to swell, turn red and bleed easily. Gingivitis can be prevented and treated well by following a regular routine of brushing, flossing and professional dental care. However, if it is not treated, can progress over time towards a more serious forms of periodontal disease.
